OUR STORY
Once a Quinta – the Portuguese word for farm – surrounded by vineyards, with a vast eucalyptus forest, orchards and some mills and sheds that were left to the fate of time, this was the place chosen by the entire Milhão family for their end-of-summer days. Alberto Milhão, a 1920’s surgeon and Vania’s great-grandfather, prepared for winter by taking long walks through the woods, breathing in the calming, medicinal scent of the eucalyptus trees.
The 90’s marked the beginning of the first restorations, with interventions in the ‘Country House’ and ‘Casa Mãe’. But for another 20 years the surrounding land continued uncultivated.
After 10 years living between Italy, France, Germany and Brazil and an unforgettable journey around the world, Vania settled at Quinta Milhão in 2015 and now lives here with her family, representing the 5th and 6th Milhão generations living in this property.
In 2016, a vast 1.5ha blueberry plantation gave way to the emptiness of terraces and plains. With this revival of life on the farm, 2017 brought with it the reconstruction of the old mills and hovels, resulting in ‘Casa da Horta’ and ‘Casa do Pomar’, and a few years later in ‘Casa Nova’.
This project is the reflection of the memories, landscapes and people that Vania brought with her from each trip. Now she hopes to give back a little of what she received in each one of them, and guarantee that anyone can create the best memories at Quinta Milhão.
